Samsung wants to speed up app development on Tizen

Apps are essential to a mobile platform’s survival now, one of the reasons why BlackBerry and Windows Phone have had such a hard time is because they just don’t have the kind of apps that people can get on iOS and Android. For Tizen to succeed Samsung needs to have a robust app ecosystem and the company is certainly working hard to ensure that there are more than enough apps available for the nascent platform.

Samsung has reportedly been in touch with Tizen developers to explain just how important it is to create an environment for developing Tizen apps, the company is providing them with a software development kit and detailing various methods for the development of Tizen apps. Samsung’s presence at IFA 2015 is also expected to serve an opportunity for the company to accelerate these efforts by prominently featuring Tizen OS. These efforts won’t go to waste, even though the Tizen Store is available in 182 countries it only has over 1,000 registered apps which is nowhere near the millions of apps available on other platforms, not good enough if you want to steal users from iOS and Android.
