Samsung has today announced that it’s added 11-nanometer FinFET processing technology, otherwise known as 11-nanometer Low Power Plus, to its advanced foundry portfolio, which will be ready for production by the first half of 2018.
Achieved by scaling the earlier 14-nanometer manufacturing process, 11-nanometer Low Power Plus is up to ten percent smaller and delivers fifteen percent higher performance, while using—roughly—the same amount of power.
The firm also confirmed that development of 7LPP with Extreme Ultra Violet (EUV) lithography technology is running on schedule, with initial production expected to commence in the second half of 2018, though that’s far from set in stone.
“Samsung has added the 11-nanometer process to [its] roadmap,” said Ryan Lee, Head of Foundry Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “Through this, [it’s] completed a process roadmap spanning from 14nm to 11nm, 10nm, 8nm, and 7nm in the next three years.”
