Samsung introduced Bixby with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ last year and it was only a matter of time before the company expanded its AI-powered virtual assistant to other devices. Smart TVs seem to be a natural habitat for assistants like Bixby and with competitors like Google Home and Alexa already having an established presence in this space, Samsung is finally bringing Bixby into the fold as well. The company has confirmed today that all Samsung Smart TVs sold in the US this year will feature Bixby.
Bixby on Samsung Smart TVs
Bixby will create a connected fabric between devices and provide users with a one-step process for TV setup and access to apps, photos, content, and more. Since the connected devices will now operate on one connected cloud platform, the TV will interact with the Family Hub refrigerator seamlessly to let users plan their TV viewing, meals and more regardless of the screen being used.
It remains to be seen when Bixby will be rolled out for Samsung Smart TVs in markets other than the United States. Nevertheless, this is a step in the right direction and it will only be a matter of time before Bixby makes it to Samsung Smart TVs in other markets.
