Samsung is gigantic, to say the least, and it also happens to be one of the most innovative corporations. For the last few years, though, Samsung has playing it safe when it comes to launching game-changing products before the market is ready for them. It’s great for the average consumer that the company is focusing on making things work right instead of being the first out the gate with a new product, but it’s not so good for the die-hard fans.
Early access to Samsung’s “innovative” hardware: Yay or nay?
Here at SamMobile, we’ve been wondering: Would you pay more to be able to get your hands on experimental hardware from Samsung? Take the first real foldable device, for example, which Samsung has been working on for a few years and has managed to keep a secret for a long time. We think an online-only “innovators” line (or something like that) from the company would be nice to see, if only for its most ardent fans who would help test the waters and act as beta testers for the final product.
How awesome would it be to be among the first few with brand new tech in your hands, even if that technology may never go mainstream and may cost too high? We remember when we had the chance to test the Galaxy Round all those years ago; that felt great, and we all know how the Galaxy Note Edge acted as the precursor to the curved Edge variants of the Galaxy S line that ultimately replaced flat-screen variants of the company’s flagships.
