Galaxy S10 5G will sport 6.7-inch display, quad rear camera, 25W charging

Samsung hasn’t really kept its plans to embrace 5G connectivity on its 2019 flagships a secret, and at the Unpacked event in New York, the company offered some details on the 5G Galaxy S10 model. Samsung is calling it Galaxy S10 5G, and its features match what we have heard in all the leaks and rumors for the most part.

The Galaxy S10 5G will have a 6.7-inch Infinity-O display, with an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. It will sport four rear cameras. The fourth camera is a 3D Depth Camera that will make it possible to shoot Live Focus (bokeh) videos and enable augmented reality experiences (like being able to measure the length of an object by pointing the camera at it). The other three are the same as the Galaxy S10+: 12MP Dual Aperture primary, 12MP telephoto, and 16MP ultra-wide sensors. The front also gets the same 3D depth camera in addition to a 10MP regular selfie snapper.

The 5G model is powered by Snapdragon 855 and gets a 4,500 mAh battery with faster wired charging. The Galaxy S10 5G will support 25W charging through the USB Power Delivery 3.0 standard, not just the 15W charging of the regular Galaxy S10 models or existing flagships. However, the 5G model loses out on a microSD slot. Samsung will sell it in only one configuration: 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will also just have a single SIM slot.

Of course, the 5G model will have network speeds that are unheard of, at least in markets where 5G networks are set to go live this year. Samsung isn’t telling us pricing or release date information for the Galaxy S10 5G, but we should see those juicy details make an appearance as we approach the launch of 5G networks in countries like the US and South Korea.
