Sprint now rolling out April security update for the Galaxy S9

Sprint has started distributing a new firmware update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, bundling all of the patches included in this month’s security release — addressing five critical and dozens of high-risk vulnerabilities in the Android OS and 15 that are exclusive to Samsung’s firmware.

The move comes less than 24 hours after the carrier began rolling out a similar update for the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+ in the region; though, unlike this latest release for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, it bundles an additional fix for an LTE issue that’s been troubling the Galaxy S10.

Just like usual, the upgrade is being pushed out in stages. To see if it’s available for your handset, head into Settings, navigate to Software Update, then select Download and install, or you can always download the firmware from our database — using the links below — for manual flashing.

Elsewhere, Samsung has been working around the clock to ensure a timely roll-out of the April security release for unlocked handsets. It touched down on the Galaxy A5 (2017), Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy J5 Prime on April 17 and before that the Galaxy Note 9, among others.
