Verizon to open Galaxy S10 5G pre-orders on April 18

The Galaxy S10 5G is now on sale in South Korea. The smartphone will next hit the US market, with Verizon reportedly beginning selling the device on May 16. Now some fresh reports claim that the carrier will start taking pre-orders for the world’s first 5G smartphone on April 18.

Verizon has already flicked the switch on its commercial 5G mobile services in parts of Minneapolis and Chicago. However, there’s only one phone that can actually leverage the 5G services, the Moto Z3, which needs an additional Moto Mod for that to work. The Galaxy S10 5G is the world’s first smartphone with an integrated 5G modem.

No pricing details available yet

The Galaxy S10 5G will be a Verizon-exclusive device in the US initially. The carrier has reportedly completed the initial testing of this phone on the locked carrier. And if there are no hiccups in the final testing, it will start taking pre-orders for the device on April 18, with sales beginning on May 16.

Verizon, however, hasn’t yet revealed the pricing details of the phone, but it’s expected to cost somewhat similar to the South Korean version. The device costs costs 1.39 million won (~$1,220) for the 256GB model, and 1.55 million won (~$1,360) for the 512GB model in Samsung’s home country. Difference in 5G plans pricing, however, may affect the cost of the device.

AT&T also has mobile 5G services in a few cities, while Sprint is planning to roll out its 5G services next month. The carriers will sell the Galaxy S10 5G later in the year.
