The year 2020 marks the beginning of the Age of Experience for Samsung, reveals the president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Division, Kim Hyun-suk, ahead of CES 2020. Samsung believes that the benefits of IoT and AI will finally be fully realized this year through 5G and that this advancement will blur the lines between the physical and digital worlds. It will change the way we interact with our devices as well as our ‘cities and communities.’
Kim Hyung-suk believes that the Age of Experience will allow customers to connect with technology in ways that weren’t possible in the past. It’s not clear exactly what this means, but it seems to represent the unification of AI, IoT, and 5G technologies.
We have noticed a stronger push from Samsung into AI and IoT in recent weeks and months. Its 2020 Family Hub refrigerators incorporate new AI technologies, and the company is set to reveal a new mysterious product based on artificial intelligence, called NEON, in a few days. Samsung also performed numerous 5G tests throughout 2019 and even demonstrated how 5G can open new possibilities for motorsport live broadcasting.
Samsung leads the charge but remains open to collaborations
Samsung is leading the charge into 5G territory, and the company shipped over 6.7 million Galaxy 5G smartphones last year. The tech giant is also one of the world’s biggest players in the AI and IoT fields, and believes that ‘the experience of tomorrow will be built on the technologies that Samsung pioneers today.’
But to change the way the world interacts with technology, and in order to ‘create a better place for all,’ Samsung will remain open to collaborations. In practice, this could mean that Samsung’s future 5G-powered IoT and AI-based devices will be compatible with more third-party products and services. Samsung seems to want to create a more open ecosystem that will benefit customers.
Kim Hyung-suk will take the stage at CES 2020 on January 6 to share more about the Age of Experience and how ‘it comes to life in 2020 and beyond.’ Are you excited? Let us know in the comment section below.
