In the Netherlands, 5G variants of the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra are now receiving a minor software update that originally started rolling out late last month but was promptly pulled from the air in the country. It still carries the same firmware version — G98xBXXU2ATE6 — but updates the modem and carrier-specific code, presumably to fix 5G connectivity issues reported by users on Vodafone’s 5G network in the Netherlands.
As always, you can manually search for the new patch from your device’s Settings app, i.e. its Software update submenu. The full images of the new OTA can also be found in SamMobile‘s firmware archive.
Still no June 2020 security update in the Netherlands
The update doesn’t include the June 2020 security patch which began reaching the Galaxy S20 lineup several days ago. It’s instead just over 26MB in size, assuming you already have the previous upgrade installed, and leaves eligible devices still running security patch level dated May 1st. Samsung will probably release the new security patch for Dutch users in a matter of days as these 5G fixes apparently took precedence, Galaxy Club reports.
The Galaxy S20 series hasn’t been breaking any sales records since its February debut, though its 5G models have been doing somewhat decently – at least in the United States. It remains to be seen how the lineup performs in the second half of the year, especially after Samsung releases new flagship alternatives in the form of the Galaxy Note 20 family, as well as the Galaxy Fold 2.
