Latest Galaxy S21 firmware update may have addressed poor battery life

The launch of the Galaxy S21 series hasn’t been without flaws for some customers in Exynos regions, and you might recall that last week we brought an issue to your attention regarding the February 2021 security patch and the possibility that it may have had a negative effect on the flagship’s battery life for some owners. Fortunately, Samsung was aware of the problem and the company may have already addressed it with the latest firmware update.

Samsung is now rolling out a second February firmware update for the Galaxy S21 series, and many users who have experienced battery life issues before are now reporting via the XDA-developers forums that the problem’s been dealt with. Mind you, some users are still reporting the same problems as before, so perhaps Samsung’s new update hasn’t addressed the issue in its entirety or for everyone affected.

The new update can be identified by firmware version G99xBXXU1AUB6. It’s rolling out in dozens of countries — too many to list here — and readers can refer to our firmware archive for the Galaxy S21, the Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra to verify if the update can be downloaded for their phones in their regions. As always, you can also check for the firmware by opening Settings on your phone, accessing the Software update section and tapping Download and install.

Since our phones haven’t exhibited the aforementioned battery life issues in the first place, we haven’t noticed any big changes in autonomy following this new firmware update either.
