Galaxy Note 8 gets the October security patch in Canada

It was around two weeks ago that the first update with the October security patch hit the Galaxy Note 8, and the same update is now making its way to Canada. The update is available for Note 8 handsets locked to Bell, the country’s largest network operator, and the firmware version is making the jump to N950WVLU2BQJA.

The October security patch brings fixes for 215 vulnerabilities found in Android and six that are exclusive to Samsung handsets. For those wondering, the October patch doesn’t include a fix for the KRACK vulnerability discovered in the WPA2 Wi-Fi security protocol. It will probably be included in the November security update, but since Google hasn’t yet revealed details on the November patch, nothing can be confirmed at this point.

Samsung has been slow with bringing the October security patch to its latest flagship, and we’re hoping the company will pick up the slack in the coming weeks instead of skipping this particular update in some markets as it did with the September patch to focus on the BlueBorne vulnerability. If have a Galaxy Note 8 purchased from Bell, you can check for the latest update by heading into the Settings » Software update menu. If you prefer the manual route, you can download the latest firmware from our database.

Have you received the new update on your Galaxy Note 8?
