The international unlocked Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950F) has not received a security patch since August. It’s long overdue and Samsung is yet to roll one out. While the Galaxy Note 8 has received the October security patch in some markets, there’s no word as yet on when it will arrive for this variant.
We hear that there’s a possibility that the overdue Galaxy Note 8 security patch for the international unlocked variant is going to be released at some point next week.
Galaxy Note 8 Security Patch
Samsung first released the October security patch for the Galaxy Note 8 in China and Hong Kong. Earlier today, the company also rolled out the same patch for the Galaxy Note 8 in Canada.
The patch hasn’t arrived on the international unlocked model yet. It hasn’t received one since August. Samsung bypassed the September patch for almost all of its devices as it was busy patching the Blueborne vulnerability.
Next week, we’ll either see the October security patch being rolled out for the Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950F) or the latest patch for the month of November. Samsung is likely going to detail this month’s security patch in a couple of days.
There’s a possibility that this variant of the Galaxy Note 8 might be the first Samsung device to receive the November security patch. Given how long users have been made to wait for a new security update, it would certainly be appropriate.
We shall find out next week how this is going to pan out.
