The COVID 19 pandemic has forced companies to change their ways. As social distancing becomes the norm, many formalities that were previously conducted in person have now been moved online. The same holds true for Koreans looking for jobs at Samsung.
Samsung Group, the largest conglomerate in South Korea, holds a group-wide entrance exam every year to assess thousands of college graduates and other job aspirants who want to work for the company. This will be the first time that the test is conducted online.
Samsung is taking its annual aptitude test online
The Global Samsung Aptitude Test or GSAT will be held online for the first time on May 30-31. Applicants who have cleared the documental screening will sit for the test at home under remote screening. The test will be conducted over two days in four sessions with several measures in place to prevent cheating and enhance fairness.
All of the applicants will be required to log into the monitoring system with their smartphones and record themselves and their monitors while they’re taking the test. The two-hour aptitude test will be monitored by invigilators remotely over webcams. Samsung will help applicants by providing them items like smartphone holders ahead of the test day so that they’re adequately prepared.
The GSAT is normally followed by first and second round interviews before a candidate is offered a place at one of the many companies that operate under the Samsung Group umbrella, based on the competence they displayed during the test. The interview process may also have to be changed in order to adjust to our new reality.
